About The Cartoonist
"Ghost Hounds" is my latest, and best comic creation. Hi, my name is Jerry Emerson and I've been cartooning just about all my life. Back in the '70s and '80s, you may have seen my cartoons published in national and international magazines, journals and periodicals, like Omni, Saturday Evening Post, TV Guide, New Woman, Saturday Review, Reader's Digest, Science Digest and many others. Locally, I did a strip called "The Robotsons" that ran for several years. My objective now is to see my "Ghost Hounds" comic strip become syndicated.
The Characters
The two main characters are Zachary Foxworth and Samantha Woods. Their friends include Derwin Gaily, Cassandra Duvall, Kazuki Kurosawa, Buddy Perkins,Mr. Hennessy, a homeless man, Karloff, a very special bloodhound, and "MT." Zak's strange, New Age aunt, Celeste Foxworth, is also on hand. The antagonists in the strip are Randy DeBunker and his group called S.A.P.S., or "Students Against Paranormal Stuff."

funny, mysterious and provocative
If I were to describe my comic strip in one phrase it would be "a Peanuts for the paranormal." The main characters are engaging children, each with a unique and complex personality. They come together to form “Ghost Hounds,” a group of dedicated ghost hunters and paranormal investigaters. Zak is the group’s founder. He brings to the group an open mind and a zeal for discovery. Samantha adds her natural skepticism. Derwin encourages them to question everything, and not to take anything at face value. Kazuki gives his all (quite literally) to the technology the group needs to investigate scientifically. Cassandra adds her “Goth” perspective, while little Buddy simply enjoys his involvement with such a cool group. Finally there’s Karloff, a huge bloodhound, who offers the group a rather odd ability – he can smell ghosts!
Funny, informative, mysterious and provocative, "Ghost Hounds" challenges our normalcy and wakes us up to the possibility that life is more than what meets the eye.
